With a deep-seated passion for improving patient care, she took a leap of faith venturing into veterinary anesthesia, and she hasn't looked back since.
Kim is a seasoned pro, a registered Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia and Analgesia. She's dedicated her career to advancing standards of patient care, sharing her knowledge through lectures, articles, and her highly-valued in-clinic training. In 2013, she even launched her own business, PEAK Veterinary Anesthesia Services, taking her commitment to higher levels.
Now also a certified RECOVER® Instructor, Kim's zeal to improve pet care and educate others continues to blaze a trail in veterinary medicine.
But Kim isn't all work and no play. She loves the great outdoors of Colorado, enjoying quality time with her wife Christy, their playful dogs Chaco and Tula, and their mischievous cats Fennec and Ringo. Meet Kristen Cooley, a seasoned Veterinary Technician Specialist in Anesthesia and Analgesia, whose love for animals and passion for pain management has taken her from the academic halls of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine to operating rooms across the globe.Â
With over 15 years of hands-on experience, Kristen has mastered the art of managing both routine and critical anesthetic cases, making a notable difference in the field.
Currently at the helm of Veterinary Anesthesia Support and Training (VAST) based in Wisconsin, Kristen consults with clinics to elevate their anesthesia practices through expert instruction and tailored in-clinic training. She also jets off to Colorado Springs periodically, providing relief anesthesia services for Kim and PEAK.
Kristen’s dedication to animal welfare extends beyond U.S. borders—she's also known for her work with shelter pets and street dogs in countries like Ecuador and Peru, ensuring they receive the best care possible. Her commitment to understanding and treating animal pain has led her to become a certified Veterinary Cannabis Counselor and a consultant for BioTraceIT, working on innovative pain detection technology.
When she's not editing textbooks, illustrating for educational publications, or sharing her knowledge on international stages, Kristen enjoys life in Madison, Wisconsin.
